Macerator Pumps and Macerating Toilets

In order to empty your boat’s holding tank’s waste you will need a macerator pump. The macerator pump will liquefy the waste into a slurry using the cutting head and pump it to an on-shore waste tank for proper waste disposal. Macerating pumps or toilets are desirable as it simplifies onboard waste management by not having to empty the holding tank using gravity alone. In order to reduce the sediment buildup in the tank, it is recommended that the holding tank be flushed with several gallons of water after each time the macerator pump is used to clear the tank. This will ensure the tank is clean and free of blockages.

HELPFUL HINTS:
-Never run the macerator pump dry of liquids, this will diminish the life of the pump by wearing out the cutting head.
-When installing the macerator pump, use a dedicated circuit, do not connect other electric devices to the same electric circuit.
- Never dump the contents of your holding tank overboard into the water as that may be illegal and may carry severe fines.
