In fact, if you try to boil water with composites such as this, it may actually add to the amount of pathogens in the water. This happens because some of the water gets lost during the boiling water purification process due to vaporization. 

Reverse osmosis is a water purification process where mechanical pressure is applied to an impure solution to force the impure water through a semi- porous membrane. The reason this water purification technique works so well is because only water is able to sift through the pores, similar to a filter- like tool. In theory this is the most accurate and successful water purification method available for large-scale water purification. The only way this water purification method could be proved unsuccessful is if the porous membranes are not well maintained. The membranes need to be cleaned out regularly as well for this water purification procedure to work efficiently.

The thirdly most common water purification process is called distillation. Distillation is the process of water being boiled and turned into vapor. The idea is that the water turns into vapor, is contained, and then turns into water again and leaves behind the pathogens that had a much higher boiling requirement and cannot be vaporized along with the water. The key is to not allow the pathogens to turn into vapor as well. When the pathogens are left behind, you have pure water. In this water purification method, the only way that vaporizing would carry along pathogens as well was if the pathogens had the same boiling points as water does and got vaporized as well. This would allow the pathogens to remain combined with the water. However, this has been proven to be one of the most effective at- home, water purification methods. Over 99.9 percent of pure water can be derived from the water purification method of distillation.
